For which areas of the face are appropriate?

Facial implants involve enhancing or improving facial contours in the following areas:

• Chin
• Angle of the mandible
• Malar bones

Treatment

The basic technique is the same for all sorts of implants. During this procedure, the surgeon makes a small incision to create a pocket and insert the implant that is placed inside the mouth (through the buccal mucosa) or in the skin and cannot be seen. The whole process lasts around 1-2 hours and there will be no need for an over night stay. If an intra-oral incision is used the sutures will dissolve.

* Quite often we combine the insertion of implants with other procedures such as face lifting, rhinoplasty or blepharoplasty.

After the treatment

You will usually return to work and normal life after a week. Swelling will normally subside after 1-2 days, and during the healing process you should avoid certain activities as instructed by the surgeon.
